PD661 System Administrator III
Encantado Technical Solutions is currently seeking System Administrator III to support an IT Managed Services program for the Department of Energy. The overall program includes a 500+ work force performing Enterprise IT support, Service Desk, and Telecommunications support across multiple facilities and locations. The System Administrator III will provide on-site and off-site and related support services for classified and unclassified telecommunications and information technology (IT) systems for National Technology and Engineering Solutions of Sandia (NTESS) with a workforce of approximately 14,000 personnel.
Requirements:
- Supervise and manage the daily activities of configuration and operation of systems which may be mainframe, mini, or client/server based. Plan and monitor the optimizing of system operation and resource utilization and perform systems capacity analysis and planning. Plan and monitor assistance to users in accessing and using business systems.
Actual Duty Description:
Work performed on site
- Process Software Assurance method free from vulnerabilities on Linux OS machines.
- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain production Linux operating systems in accordance with established IT policies and guidelines for items such as security, networks, and filesystems
- Coordinate and perform installations and upgrades to layered software packages
- Continually monitor and tune multiple systems to achieve optimum performance levels
- Patch remediation for all server-based and workstation computer systems assigned to the customer support group on various networks
- Implement of client approved patch management software to support manual and automate system installation of OS definition files.
- Automate classified and restricted network equipment OS patching or other automation
Skills Required: as per the SR: Minimum 2 years experience working in a large distributed environment providing Unix/Linux Server system administration
Skills Desired:
- Familiarity or experience with virtualized systems (such as KVM, ESX) and containers.
- Working knowledge of authentication methodogies such as Kerberos, PAM, and LDAP
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP, SSL, DNS, FTP, SSH, another common Internet protocols
- Familiarity or experience with automation tools such as Ansible
- Experience with solving practical problems and system analysis of IT infrastructures
- Demonstrated experience in effectively prioritizing and executing tasks in a contantly changing environment
- Knowledge with CLI, scripting (Bash, Python), and searching/parsing log files
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative and interdisciplinary team environment.
