PD 684 Application Engineer
Mission Computing Services (MCS) provides IT resources to mission organizations, one being the Server System Administrator. The selected employee shall provide Server System Administrator support and assist customers with server needs, including architecture design and consultations, building, configuring maintaining and troubleshooting physical and virtual servers. Department provides Tier 0 to Tier 3 user support for high performance computing and Mac related systems. The employee will provide embedded high-performance scientific software development and deployment support. Maintain training facilities. Provide visualization tools for high performance software users for very large data sets. Candidate must have experience or ability to learn HPC related work. Possess the capacity to work independently and effectively while maintaining positive productivity. Levels. Maintain a positive relationship with fellow peers, cross functional teams and leadership.
Required Skills:
- Employee shall have experience with:
- Web Application
- Frameworks (Rails, Django, MeteorJS, etc.)
- Html, CSS, JavaScript, Java and other web technologies
- Selectee will work on independent tasks (e.g., installation, upgrades, troubleshooting) within a team administering applications
- Experience with system administration is required
- Candidate must have experience or ability to learn HPC related work
- Due to the nature of work requested, location and work hours are established to provide continuity of services when customer program teams typically require assistance and may be adjusted to meet customer priorities
- Work requests shall be received by in-person contact, phone/email/IM requests, and ticket receipts. All work performed shall be documented in tickets, project tracking tools, or reported in team status meetings.
- All system documentation shall be maintained per customer and team standards. All systems shall be monitored and maintained per customer and team documented standards. Other assignments and tasks may be assigned, as needed
- Select customer program assignments may require additional security requirements.
- Select customer program assignments requires knowledge, exposure and compliance to customer Cyber standards
Desired Skills:
- As part of the team, the employee shall provide IT support to the Server Team
- Classified support experience STIG (Security Technical Implementation Guidance) familiarity or experience
- Experience with any of the following: VMware, Citrix, database, backup, cluster and storage
- All resources shall perform work requests for tasks assigned by the service manager, team manager/lead or team coordinator, within the work areas requested
- All assignments are to be performed within the bounds of customer agreements and service hours
- All work assignments shall be accounted for by appropriate project/task time charging reporting structures
- Continuous adherence to customer Cyber policies for technical work is required for all services
- Continuous adherence to Customer Security and Safety directives is required
- General and specific tasks noted in the tasks sections, as assigned by the Customer Team Manager/Lead or Service Manager, are required
