FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Operations FAQ

2. When is the expected date when incumbents will be transitioned to Encantado and become employees of one of the four companies?

The expected date for most incumbents who have received and accepted offer letters to become employees of Encantado is April 10.

3. I have provided my resume and other requested individual information. What can I expect in the next couple weeks?

Encantado is currently processing information provided during the initial incumbent identification process and is aligning individuals and their experience/qualifications to requirements of individual Task Orders.

As stated in the Town Halls held on February 11 and 16, we expect all incumbents, who have provided their information to us via the Encantado web site and have received and accepted an offer letter to be transitioned to the new contract on April 10.

Within the coming weeks, you can expect to be contacted by a human resources team member from one of the four partner companies to initiate the hiring process.

4. When will I have the opportunity to move to a new position? When will my salary be reviewed and considered for a raise?

The approach for transitioning incumbents is to transfer individuals at their current salary and in their current role.  Any discussion related to salary or responsibility adjustments will be handled on a case-by-case basis after the projects have been transitioned to Encantado, and our management team has had the opportunity to assess each individual’s skills and abilities. However, you will have opportunities to earn additional compensation through merit bonuses, and out-of-cycle pay increases after 90 days at the discretion of your new operations manager.

5. How will Encantado ensure each company is taking care of their employees, fulfilling their contract duties, and working collaboratively?

The four Encantado partner companies have a long-established working relationship and experience managing and delivering across large enterprise projects. Accordingly, a culture of open communication and transparency already exists and will continue through the course of our tenure managing the Sandia project.

Encantado’s management philosophy is to manage the Sandia project as a badgeless operation.  Employees from each of the four companies will form integrated teams. Operational management will be provided by employees across our member companies.  Accordingly, individual issues that may arise should be addressed with the immediate line manager, who will coordinate the appropriate response.

6. What is the logical breakdown, or expected breakdown, of the partner companies across the contracts and task orders? Are specific services going to fall under specific companies?

Sandia services will not be segregated by member companies because Encantado’s management philosophy is to manage the project as a badgeless operation.

7. Will there be transfer opportunities across the four different Encantado partners?

We do not intend to move individuals between companies once the transition is complete.

8. How will shift differential and on-call pay be handled?

Shift differential and on-call pay will be addressed on an individual basis. Your company’s HR representative will be able to provide more information.

9. How does the new timesheet process work?

There will be a mandatory online training course, posted on our website, on how to complete timesheets and approve timesheets.

10. Will our holiday schedule be the same as Sandia’s?

Yes. We will follow the Sandia holiday schedule and will observe 11 holidays. We will also observe the winter shutdown during the week between Christmas and New Year’s.

11. Will my work schedule change?

No. Whatever work schedule you have today, you will have tomorrow. If you’re interested in changing your schedule, that decision will be at the discretion of your manager.

12. Will my status change?

No. If you are mission critical status now, that does not change.

13. What will happen with regards to badging and access?

If you have a HSPD -12 badge, your access to Sandia will continue as normal without any action on your part. That’s good news! You may, however, get an email saying your clearance is ready in the next few weeks. There is no action for you to take since you already possess the HSPD-12.

If you have an uncleared Local Site-Specific Only (LSSO) badge, commonly known as a grey badge or striped badge, you will need to visit the badge office before April 9th (preferably on a Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday) to obtain a new LSSO badge. Please follow the signage in the badge office and the COVID protocol when picking up LSSO badge.

There should be no changes to your access to the systems you use to perform your work at Sandia. You will, however, need to reauthorize your WebCARS shortly after transitioning to ETS. You can visit webcars.sandia.gov to see when your current relationship expires. You will need to reauthorize prior to the expiration of that legacy relationship.

14. Will ETS hold any orientation events?

We will hold interactive Corporate Orientation Activities run by each company’s HR department. These activities include an online kickoff meeting and follow-on online onboarding actions. Personalized invitations with more details were sent via email on 3/31 directly from your company’s HR department. If you have questions about company benefits, paychecks, timesheets, holiday schedules, and PTO, this is the event you don’t want to miss!

Benefits FAQ

1. Can you tell us about your benefit package?

Encantado is made up of four companies: Edgewater Federal Solutions, ECS, Amentum, IIA.  Each company offers a similar, comprehensive benefits package that will be discussed with you at the time your offer is extended.

Each company’s benefits include:

  • Medical
  • Dental
  • Paid Time Off (PTO)
  • 401(K) Matching
  • Life Insurance
  • And other ancillary benefits

2. As an incumbent transitioning to Encantado, will I have continuous medical coverage? Will there be a need for COBRA to bridge any gap?

You will be eligible for health benefits effective your first day of employment. But please work with your current employer to determine when your current coverage will end.

3. What if I have already met my medical deductible this year? Will I have to meet another deductible after transitioning?

Upon separation from your current employer, your benefits with them will end.  However, you will be eligible for health benefits effective your first day of employment at your new company—one of the four Encantado partners. As with any new medical plan, you will have to restart your deductible.

4. What happens to my benefits, if I move from one Encantado company to another?

We do not intend to move individuals between companies once they are transitioned to the Encantado team.  Should that happen in a rare case, you will receive similar benefits from the new company.

5. What is the paid time off (PTO) and holiday benefits? Will I have access to vacation time before next year? For example, will I be paid for the Memorial Day and Independence Day, both of which fall within the first 90 days of employment with Encantado?

Across all four companies—Edgewater, ECS, Amentum, and IIA—employees will begin accruing vacation time immediately upon their hire date.

Additionally, we have aligned our 11 days of paid annual holidays to follow the Sandia holiday schedule. There is no probationary period associated with benefits or the ability to take Government holidays

To accommodate individuals’ plans for time off in the immediate future, Encantado will allow employees to accrue advanced leave up to 40 hours.

6. At the end of the year, Sandia has an Energy Conservation shutdown. Is there information on how you will handle this time period?

Our holiday schedule will follow the Sandia Holiday schedule covering the Energy Conservation date.

7. Will my earned vacation time transfer over?

While your vacation balance will not transfer over, your years of service in support of Sandia National Labs will be used to determine leave accrual under your new employer. Check with your current HR department to find out if you will be paid out for any accrued but unused vacation upon separation.

SCA employees will receive vacation and sick time as dictated by the applicable Wage Determination (WD).

8. How will SCA benefits be handled under the Encantado?

As a Service Contract Act (SCA) employee, you will receive a Health and Welfare fringe rate per hour which will go towards Health & Welfare benefits. You must have an eligible waiver to waive coverage. You will also receive sick leave as well as vacation per your applicable Wage Determination.
